Dear Chocolate Box creator!
Hi! I love this time of year! I'm so excited to see what you'll come up with! :D
Concept ideas, from last year's letter: I've got a lightly rotating list from my dear creator/writer tags that you're welcome to check out. For a challenge like this, where the emphasis is a little more on 'short and sweet', I'm very here for, say, a sex/afterglow scene that showcases the characters, or something else utterly mundane to hang a moment on (cooking a meal, sharpening a weapon, making something). No need for anything convoluted or intricate (unless you're into that ;)) Feel free to grab a concept from another fandom/prompt here and apply it to whatever we matched on, too.
Mood Likes
Looking at my fandom list, and with maybe one exception, I'm all about people being safe and happy this year, or at least safe and happy for the space of the work.
General loves:
- People being immensely competent at something, (and also kind in teaching others).
- Hurt/comfort, both emotional and physical, especially after some sort of trauma. Finding a new/better/different way to be in the world after wrenching change.
- That Oh romance moment – either startling realisation of "I'm in love with them", or esp in already established relationships – where Character A looks at B and thinks: I adore you.
- Characters shaving/brushing hair/tending to each other as quiet acts of devotion or service. Esp if one can't do it themselves because of injury etc, but also just because maybe they're exhausted or had a bad day, and having someone take care of you is deeply soothing.
- Having or making cosy/habitable spaces esp in post-apoca settings or settings of scarcity: no stable home, or in the middle of a ruin etc)
Sex likes
Happy-sex scene places: laughing during sex, happy intimate warm moments. Adoration and body worship. Edging and overstimulation. Pleasurepain. Marks like bruises or welts hidden under clothes for savouring, later. "Forced" orgasms, of the consensual(or not) "character A's already come X times and is exhausted and character B leans in and is all 'one more?' and makes them, type. Restraining people using body weight, or just hands. Manhandling. Praisekink. Being tender to someone in subspace.
I'm entirely okay with not explicitly negotiating kink/intense sex. By all means, tag it with 'consensual kink', and I'll gladly believe they talked about it off-camera. I'm honestly okay with flatout under-negotiated kink, as long as everyone ends up having a good time.
I vastly prefer the word 'come' rather than 'cum' in allll uses. I'm not a fan of humiliation talk (slut/whore etc).
DNWs
- Fatphobia, specifically. Show any/all larger characters the love and respect and joy in their own skin that they deserve as people, pls. I'm okay with a little homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, sexism etc, should the muse take you that way, as long as it's refuted/scoffed at by the characters it's directed at.
- Prefer no pet/familiar death (killing animals for food is fine).
- About the only hard limit I've got aside from fatphobia is characters getting their hopes up and then getting those hopes dashed (basically, if you could describe a character as 'crestfallen' I'm going to be unable to keep reading, unless I know it turns out all okay in the end, or that the character gets to process it properly. Yeah, I don't know why, either. I think it's a weird mutation of an embarrassment squick).
Fandoms!
The house in the cerulean sea (Arthur Parnassus/Linus Baker)
It's been over a year since I've read this, says my DW entries (you can read here and here if you're interested on my feelings about it. This was such an odd book for me. I loved so much of it: Extremely Upper Management! The children! The whole wry tone of it! But I also felt like it was missing its romance. Yes, they fell in love, but I didn't feel it. Things I'd love to see, if you're after suggestions: that oh moment: the original, or years down the track when they adore each other still and there's a new group of kids being raised by the old etc. Arthur had such a quiet, profound confidence and calm about him (and a spine of emotional steel) that feels so good for Linus to learn from. Intimacy, and Arthur and Linus loving Linus's body as it is. Or what's it like for Linus having to stay for once, having to learn how to be part of a family (a home, in all senses of the word); kids' hijinks and any other characters extremely welcome :D
Arcane: League of Legends (Jinx & Vander & Vi (League of Legends), Claggor & Jinx & Mylo & Vander & Vi (Arcane: LoL), Vander & Vi (League of Legends), Benzo/Vander (Arcane: LoL))
(Possibly worth noting, while I'm most of the way through the season of Arcane, I'm really only focusing on the pre-series/the first few eps for the purposes of prompting, if we didn't match here but you're curious to have a look. Note the second! While the AO3 is calling her Jinx throughout its pairings, I'm thinking of Powder here *sobs softly*)
I fell so sobbingly hard for Vander: macho-looking bruiser who cares he cares so much about his adopted family and Zaun. I'd love any combo of these relationships: Vander having these traumatised, fierce, desperate-for-safety and-also-not-trusting-anyone-but-each-other hellcats of adopted daughters, and also being utterly unable to physically or emotionally walk away from this responsibility he's placed on his own damn shoulders (fuck, Vander, I love you so much); training up the team of misfits to be a cohesive gang; Vander giving Vi fatherly advice. Vander and Benzo being immensely skilled in their own ways, and also being tender and intimate and vulnerable with each other as far as their masculinity allows ::sobbing emoji::
The shape of water
Giles/Original Male Character(s) (The Shape of Water); Elisa Esposito & Giles (The Shape of Water); Giles/The Asset (The Shape of Water); Giles & Zelda Fuller (The Shape of Water)
I loved the atmosphere of this movie so much. That delicate balance of fairy tale unreality with real-world, viciously close to home discrimination and violence. Mostly, having watched the movie a second time I'm all about Giles: he's so absurdly compassionate and understanding (the creature ate his cat, and he's still willing to hide it and teach it non-violent ways, my god); so "I'm not very good at this" and also so brave. I love him. The fact that he's narrating the story implies that he's emotionally processed the loss of Elisa, and has come through it, but I'd love to see him content and happy, and any of these pairings/relationships would be an excellent springing off point.
I'd love to see him with a quiet boyfriend, for example. If you wanted to go down the fish-fucking route: did the creature do much, much more than cradle his head in its hand at some point before they left? What did the creature do to him? I assume the creature (re)opened Elisa's gills, did it to anything to Giles beyond his regrown hair/some youthfulness? Does Elisa and/or the creature return at some point to catch up? Did Zelda dump her husband (abso-fucking-lutely) but did she also move into Elisa's empty apartment and she and Giles become friends, for example?
Original Works
Ballerina/Noblewoman Sponsor (F/F) (OW)
Things that instantly attracted me to this idea: the incredible muscle and bodily strength of the athlete. The opulence and poise of the noblewoman. I could see this relationship going anywhere from lovingly intimate support of the athlete's needs (foot care, orgasms), and the dancer loving having such a generous benefactor, to dubcon 'consenting to it to continue the monetary support' vibes. I'm all for anything along that spectrum, including the darker idea of the noblewoman feeling like she has possession or ownership over the dancer's body--that the noblewoman helped fund and create, after all, thinks the noblewoman. Regardless, there is pampering, extravagance, attention, and any level of sex/not-sex (as you the creator wish) but how does the dancer feel about it?
Lady Knight/Witch She's Sent To Capture (F/F)
This is allll about the enemies-to-(secret?)lovers for me. Maybe they hate each other for good, personal reasons. Maybe they're going by reputations alone. Has the knight/the royal watch threatened the witch's forest, for example, or the witch threatened the royal rule somehow? What tips the balance towards grudging respect and then admiration, if that is in fact how it goes down? Extremely here for "yeah, I've been sent to capture you, by definition I'm going to save your life so I can DO that--Oh." Triple bonus points for the knight reporting back that she never seems to be able to find the witch, oh darn... Maybe she's dead? I gotta go back every other week to make sure...
Specific loves for this pairing: Cosy witch huts. Animal familiars; characters regarding and respecting animals as people, from say the knight's horse or dog, to the witch's familiar/s.
