Wonderfalls

At the Slashgathering yesterday [personal profile] sarren spoke highly of Wonderfalls, so I nabbed the first few episodes because it was apparently charming and I wanted something to pass the time.

I just finished ep two, and almost reflexively went and bought its single season on Amazon. The wiki link can tell you plot things. I gave it money for the 'most of the conversations pass the Bechdel test', the matter-of-fact lesbian character, (and the apparent matter-of-fact bisexual character, although I'm waiting with interest to see how that pans out), the friendships, and the snark. The mace/creepy scene tipped it for me :)

Thanks, [personal profile] sarren!

Leverage

So, I've just finished watching the bank robbery episode of Leverage. On one hand, the show is contrived, full of plot holes and moments that make me go 'gah! that's not how a professional does it!'

On the other hand, I love this show so fucking much. And I want an icon with Elliot and Parker in it. *dives into episode 6*

I...what?

I know it's all about the dragging viewers in, but this still boggles the mind.
Heard several times this evening on the radio, an ad for Today/Tonight:

"Baby stealers: how women are stalking maternity wards, and how the banks are helping them get away with it. Also, a Perth study proves that Generation Y is making everyone pay more for petrol." (emphasis mine)

...See, I giggled hysterically the first time, and then I realised that some people would be taking this seriously, and felt a little sick. Shock journalism, anyone?
