SPN drabble: Peripheral vision
Peripheral vision
G, Gen, pre-series. For the
100_ghosts prompt sight
Dean tries to tell Dad, once.
Dad says she’s gone, and Dean hates seeing Dad cry, so he doesn’t try again.
Sammy is too young to do anything but wriggle and squeal “Dee!” when Dean whispers in his ear, but Dean hopes Sammy understands.
Dean quietly draws a finger through the salt line each night, watching for the flickers on the edge of his sight: blonde hair, blue eyes, the curve of her smile; flickers that hold her bright in his mind.
Knowing how to banish ghosts isn’t much use when you need to know how to make one stay.

And double thanks for the 'set' of prompts (I'm not sure which one of you organised it). For some reason, the challenge of the set kick starts my writing. Observe: this is the first time in about three months that I've written anything postable. *delighted*

That's great news!! Part of the reason I took over mod duties for the comm was I wanted to kick-start my own writing again, and it's working wonders for me, too. So far. *crosses everything*
So glad to have you participating!
