Have spent the afternoon cowering behind closed, glowing-with-hot-sunlight curtains (so this is what summer actually feels like. I remember now! *grieves for the pretty, overcast 25 degree yesterday*) and reading the West Australian. There's an ad on page 30 with the largest line as: "What are our pereferences?" and two yong people leaning against a wall looking upward. It was actually an ad for ECU's psychology course, but I was immediately jamming it into a "What are our preferences? Gay, straight, bi, queer? You can't tell because it doesn't matter..." etc etc ad.
And there's good news on the front page for once: "Is it over for brick and tile dream?" assumes the headline. Essentially, Planning and Infrastructure wants people to move away from double brick houses and start building with, among others, steel and timber frames, wood and weatherboard cladding. Living in a weatherboard house, and seeing the brick boxes being build with no eaves all over the place, I'm all sorts of pleased by this. :) Although I have to giggle despairingly over the West's idea of a counter argument: quoting Brickworks (Australia's biggest brick supplier) and Midlandbrick. I mean, hello? finacial interests, anyone? :D
ETA: in that vein, I'm planning on a gathering at said weatherboard house on Friday. Is anyone able to make it? :)
