Usual preamble here: if you've got an idea for Fandom that you want to write, go for it (try dodging my dislikes, maybe, but other that, go for it). Ideas, if you want them, under the cuts. I'm delighted by gen, slash, femslash. I love characters being casually bi/having had relationships with both/(many?) genders. I'm good with explicit sex, but love non-sexual intimacy moments even more. (See below)

I'm happy with any 'level' of rating and relationship, from gen friendship to no-sex-shown relationship, to graphic, kinky sex. I have somewhat of a power play D/s kink, but don't feel at all obliged to include that if it's not your cup of tea.
I like complicated, human relationships. The sort of relationships where you know the other person really well -- how to needle and hurt the other person, just as well as how to make them happy, and which option to choose, and keep choosing. I prefer non-miserable endings to peoples' relationships, but take it where the story leads you.
I have a competency-kink a mile long. It doesn't matter what people are doing specifically, anything from baking a cake to putting together machinery. I just really enjoy watching people do things well with assurance and skill.
Intimacy. I don't just mean sex or physical touch -- that ease you get with someone when you've been together forever, and can hang out in their personal space and never bump into them; all the inside jokes you build up; knowing they're okay or not okay at a glance. That sort of thing.
Happy endings, although I get that they might not always be possible. If a happy ending doesn't work for your fic, I'd totally go for bittersweet 'things are still fucked, but we're still together and hanging in there' in its place :D
If you're panicking about producing a fic where people have to Do Stuff, and there should probably be Plot and a Story Arc, and Character Development, and Characters Learning Shit! You totally don't have to. I'm all for 1,001 words of lazy Sunday afternoon; a bunch of vignettes or drabbles; a slice-of-life; a five-times fic; a missing scene or chapter, etc etc... I mean, if you've been bitten by a bunny that is all about the Plotty Character Development then shit yeah, run with it and be joyous. But it's not required.

I have a strong embarrassment/disappointment squick, which mostly manifests in a 'person gets their hopes up about X, and then gets those hopes squashed or gets laughed at.' As a general rule, if you could use the word 'crestfallen' to describe a character, I'm going to be struggling to read. (ETA: ways to smooth that over: if the other characters are supportive, rather than laughing at them, and/or the character is like "fine. whatever. I'll just do better next time.'] Other than that, I'm good with canon-level violence (thinking of Lions of Al-Rassan, here, mostly, and prefer happy endings.
On to the fandoms! ETA a note here that my write ups are noticeably Lions of Al-Rassan heavy bc I'm re reading it right now so it's freshest, but all my requests are here because they're beloved wants.
The Juniper Game: I adored this book as a kid, and I was delighted to see it nominated this year. I know it’s a weird thing to say, maybe, but trying to think back to what I loved most about the book was ‘colours’ – the stained glass windows, Dylan’s paints, the house (‘like living in a tree’, I loved that house So Much), the gypsy caravan (yup, I wince about it as an adult, but still…). Basically I’m apparently a romantic sap, just not about people.
I was a bit thrown by the characters nominated (Juniper/Niall was my first worry and... well, YKINMKATO, but it’s really not for me. If you wanted Juniper to rock up to Niall's caravan looking for life advice from a mentor, I could see that working well). I’d like something that leaned towards Juniper herself, especially post-book and her as an independent young adult. What’s she up to now? The Best Medieval historian ever? :D Does she still have powers? Is she in ‘contact’ with Dylan still? :D
The Lions of Al-Rassan: Oh my god, I saw this book nominated and have picked it back up so I can remember the exact details so I don’t put my request foot in it somehow, and this book is so glorious. I feel the need to point out up front that holy cow I don’t expect you to write like Guy Gavriel Kay, because hot damn he’s too good and wow is that some impressively deep politics and world building he’s got going there.
What draws me in particularly about this book is the characters – I adore everyone on this character list and their relationships with each other, and choosing – even now – is so hard! Everyone is so freaking competent and elegant and chivalrous – which is a word I hate usually but it damn well fits here. I’m also wildly into the trope of respecting and admiring one’s opponents.
Like, you're exiled/fleeing to a strange city, and there appears what must feel like not one but two soulmates. I'm here for any combo of two-somes of these three, and all three of them *definitely* (I'd really prefer Miranda giving explicit or implicit permission to Rodrigo at some point, though), in any combo of gen hanging out, all the way up to as explicit sex as you want. If you're floundering, as someone else said in their sign-up, 1000 words of them hanging out around a campfire, flirting and talking (politics/horses/whatever) would suit me down to the ground.
ETA: reading update as of page 333, where Ammar is cheerfully and sincerely distracting the child princes while the assassins are dealt with in the hallway. Ammar, is there anything you CAN'T do? My exasperation is fond and full of envious, profound attraction. I'm reminded of the Heinlein quote about specialisation is for insects. Ammar is That Guy, and I love him. Possible fic idea! Is there, srsly, something he can't do? That Jehane and Rodrigo are like "!! You - you can't X? Let us teach you..." :D
Know your name by Mary Lambert She keeps me warm makes me cry every damn time (adorable, happy queers!), and I was freaking delighted to find this existed as I was scrolling through the fandoms list.
Seeing each other from across the room and giving each other the “yes, hi, I like the look of you…” mutual insta-attraction that only happens in books. Or in this case, exactly what she’s singing about. Doubly good when that attraction holds through the first conversation, the driving off for the weekend to… (I’m partial to a beach side shack, or a cottage in the forest, but hey, if your dream weekend is flashy casinos and fancy 5-star hotels, take me there. The glee shines through regardless, and I’m here for that glee). I was juuust a touch too young (and probably not right country, really) for arcade malls as a Thing, but if that’s your happy place, absolutely write up a storm there, too.
Princess Bride: this feels like a ridiculous little thing to ping off, but, well, it is Yuletide. So The Man in Black and Inigo Montoya, from the climb up the cliff to the “please understand I hold you in the highest respect”, I am slashing the absolute hell out of them. (See above for opponents respecting each other’s skills) To my eye, they’re flirting wildly the whole scene, so 1001 words of continued flirting somehow (MIB cannot quite bear to leave him unconscious?), through to 1001 words of PWP, I’m wildly here for it. Or, hell, an epic rewriting of the movie with them together, go for it! This, honestly, is a fanciful late addition because I suspect I’m otherwise going to be a bastard to match, but it's also a fondly held delight.
Anyway, have fun, try not to stress too much (pot, kettle, etc, but still!). My yuletide tag has all my past letters, if that helps somehow, I'm also on tumblr under this username. Feel free to hit up the mods with any questions. Good luck!
