If you want an anime version of Full Metal Alchemist, "Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood" is apparently pretty true to the manga. I really loved it but haven't read the manga. There's also an older anime just called "Full Metal Alchemist" that has it's own original ending, and is generally (but not universally) considered less good.
I really must get around to reading the manga one day!
