Because I'm bored and depressed and cannot stand doing data entry for much longer: a random piece of funny-ish from a 1993 Hansard transcript of the Legislative Council Estimates Committee I'm meant to be entering into an excel spreadsheet so someone can glance at it and say "ditch all those boxes of paper". *sighs, endures*
"The DEPUTY PRESIDENT: Obviously, I am deputising for the President, and I relay his apologies. He regrets that he is unable to be here as he has a longstanding commitment to lead a Commonwealth delegation to monitor elections in Pakistan. The President of Pakistan was not prepared to change the date of his election for the Estimates Committee, which was pretty unreasonble of him!"
It's comforting to know our politicians actually do have a sense of humour. Also, I wish to spread this around. It feels important.
