kres posted her list of WIPs/dead ideas recently, which reminded me of this post that I've had kicking around in Word for a while. Talking to vegetariansushi, I started flipping back through all my old notebooks and ended up listing, in rough chronological order my story ideas.
The amnesia fic: My first eva plot bunny: Jack gets retrograde amnesia (sounds so much better than soap-opera!) and Daniel has to remind him of a few things… It's about 2/3 finished, I think, although I suspect to finish it "properly" I'll be re-typing this, simply because I've done about a year and half of writerly-development between then and now. Quite possibly dead, alas.
Let's Just Go Home: first ever finished slash fic. More of a dry-run "can I actually write this fan-fic thing?" than a story. Startlingly, someone liked it enough to nominate it for the Stargate fan Fic awards last year. Thank you again, so much, anonymous nominator!
Dog-tag fic/Coming Home: originally sparked off by my kink for dog-tags/things hanging around necks/The One Ring kink, has kind of become my take on the early eps tag scenes. I *really* like what I have here, and things are hopefully strong.vegetariansushi has suggested writing it in vignettes, which I've never tried, so I'm kicking that around and having fun.
I-give-Daniel-cancer-and-watch-Jack-cope: This is an unfinished scattering of scenes, Jack's 1st person POV, present tense. This will never be finished, but I'm *really* happy with the job it did, because it was me learning how to get inside Jack's head which came in mighty handy for when I knocked off Daniel for real (see: A Thousand Memories).
Keeping Vigil: the embarrassingly blatant comfort kink fic. Finished!
Sha'uri anniversary: sketchy ideas about the first anniversary of Sha'uri's death. Reading back, there's some ideas and sentences that I like, but not enough to sustain a story.
Hammond POV fic: (Inspired by a response to a challenge where someone had written from the 1st person POV she found hardest and she chose Hammond.) Hammond's take on SG-1, and Jack and Daniel's relationship in particular, plus heavy Daniel-whumping (this is me we're talking about here!) I think the angst combined with necessary actual research has killed this one.
"Threads" tag: Where Jack has been regularly hallucinating Daniel as a coping mechanism after they think he died with the replicators, so in the briefing room when Daniel calls out "Hello? Hey guys, it's me," and Jack turns to everyone else and says: "you hear that?" he's just, y know, checking it isn't in his head this time. Not finished, and probably not needing to be finished now that the ep is long gone.
Bad day fic/Getting Back to Good: Daniel's day starts out bad and just doesn't get any better. Was almost finished, and I was happy with it, and then the laptop crashed and burned. (SPA: backup your work, kiddies!). I'm considering re-writing it, especially since it's almost neatly summarised in one of my notebooks, but the voice isn't quite running smooth for me again yet.
Blind fic: Jack and Daniel are captured off-world and Daniel is blinded for some perceived trespass. I can see (pun intended :P) the first few scenes of this so clearly and I love it, but I'm leery of it because after doing the research for the amnesia fic, I can't in all conscience write a "Jack gets knocked out and later saves the day/aka 'My, shouldn't you have a nasty case of concussion right about now?'" kind of fic, which this kind of is.
A Thousand Memories: sparked by a line in one of Devra's fics called "A Thousand Tomorrows", and actually started/finished because of her warm and enthusiastic response when I mentioned the idea in feedback. Finished!
You Can't Go Home Again: A Spooks fic this time. Tom is emotionally lost and stagnating after leaving MI5 until Adam, grief-wracked after ep 3x10,. breaks the rules and makes contact with him. I'm determined to finish this one, even if the voice might (and is) taking a while.
Homeless fic: This fic started as a moment in time: Jack finding Daniel living on the streets and taking him home, where the writer slowly works out what happened to Daniel, and that she's written herself into a plot hole the size of Kansas. *moan* I liked this, damnit. I really liked it. *clings to it in the hope she can use it somewhere else*
Assorted drabbles: Spooks (finished); X-men (finished); Sahara (tweaked and tweaked, may end up a vignette if it's going to live) and a never-quite-got-off-the-ground Boondock Saints.
Current project: The "dog-tag" vignettes, and slowly, the 'challenge' piece (see post requesting anthrax info [grin])
