Beloved flist, I'm wanting theories about Rogue's talent. I've dug around in Wiki and the various random things that Google coughs up, but it's not quite specific enough for my needs. I'll use the following example because it's just easier:
Rogue touches a truck driver to the point of unconsciousness. She now has a working knowledge of how to drive a truck, and would know the specific nuances of the driver's own truck. She'd also probably spend the next few days wanting to drink beer and scratch her belly, but that'd wear off.
So, she has the knowledge of say, how soon to break in order to stop in time. Would she have the truck driver's memories of learning those things? Would she always know she knew how to drive a truck, or would it be a form of body-instinct? (e.g. could she pass a theory test or would it only kick in when she sat behind the wheel?) I know she absorbs people's physical strength for a time, but months later, would she have the strength to depress a stiff clutch that would ordinarily be too stiff for her?
Have I completely confused people? [grin]

I think she would retain memories for longer because once she remembers them they are hers as well; but the skills/muscle memory would fade quickly over time unless she practiced them.

"Rogue is a mutant who possesses the ability to absorb the memories, abilities, personality, and outward physical characteristics of other beings through skin-to-skin contact. Such transfers lasted for 60 times longer than the contact time, with extended contact resulting in the possibility of permanent absorption. No upper limit had been determined for the number of beings Rogue could simultaneously imprint.
Upon absorbing another's memories, Rogue also gained any associated emotional responses. Rogue was typically able to control such emotions, however absorbing psyches more powerful than her own resulted in Rogue’s psyche being supplanted.
After permanently absorbing the powers of Ms. Marvel, Rogue possessed an amalgamated mutant human/alien Kree physiology that granted her a degree of immunity to poisons. Rogue also possessed Ms. Marvel's above normal reflexes and psychic "seventh sense" that enabled her to subconsciously anticipate an opponent’s moves. Whilst Rogue possessed Ms. Marvel's psyche, her "double" consciousness made her resistant to telepathic probes from even the most powerful mind readers. "

Subsequently, I see her truck driving would result from a mish-mash of memories, muscle memory, and knowledge.

Sounds like most Perth drivers to me.

The supplanting psyches are new to me and now I'm all interested in what counts as a stronger or weaker psyche indicator. Force of personality, perhaps?
limited control of her abilities Hmm, meaning that say, she'd be able to block absorption during a brief contact, or she'd be able to control what she aborbed?
