Okay, I'm writing a post-X-men 3 fic. Given that Jean Grey and Cyclops are dead, and Professor X is out of commission for at least a few months, who is actually teaching at the school besides Storm? (and maybe Wolverine? Professor of Art, anyone?) I'm sure there are actually other characters, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Either that, or we have a principal and no teachers...

Added to that, does anyone have any theories about how long after the events of X3 Professor X gets his new body? I'm unconsciously placing that after Magneto makes that chess piece move simply because that was the order I saw the events unfold. I'm also demanding theorising that it took at least a few weeks for Magneto's powers to start returning because it looked like he came regularly to sit alone at that chess board. And by 'looked', I mean, "I have no idea why I think that, I just do".

Any ideas, beloved flist?

I'd guess that Rogue and Iceman will have been roped in to teach some of the younger students.

Agreed on the several weeks before Magneto's powers began to return.

Not sure on Xavier's new body. It was shown after, but I'd have expected it to be a quicker process than several weeks.

prk.

That makes a certain amount of sense, although I wonder if Rogue will stay at the school now that she's totally human. Now I'm curious about how on earth they'd advertise for teachers. ::grin::

I, too, think that Xavier entering the body would be much quicker than a few weeks. I plan to fudge that by saying it took him several weeks to wake up ;)

Also, while I'm here, ages back at Swancon, you took some photos of my Masqurade outfit. You wouldn't happen to still have them, would you? :)

Re: Photos

How big's your mailbox?

I've got about 15 photos, each is 2.5 - 3Mbytes.

They don't compress well.

I'll need to wait until I'm on broadband to send them.

Or I could burn them to CD for you.

Re: Photos

15 photos? Wow, cool :)

I've used 12% of a 1 gig mailbox, I suspect it's worth a shot just trying to send them and seeing what happens. If that makes the world cave in on itself, we could go the CD burning route and coordinate schedules? I could repay you with a scalp massage? Thanks.

I reckon it'd be at least a few weeks for Magneto's powers to start re-appearing. They're quite strong, so it could only be just a few weeks, or it could be longer. He looks like a real regular by the point that the piece moved, so I'm thinking maybe even a few months? He took a LOT of that 'cure'.
I just thought it'd be a few months for Prof-X too. I too place that after Magneto starts making chess pieces do the samba.
re: teachers, I'm not good at identifying how many canon students 'of age to teach' could be around. :( [livejournal.com profile] devinjay might have a better idea. He's a bit of an X-geek.

A few months for Prof-X to wake up works very well with what I have planned for the fic, so I'm glad for the back up, I'm just not sure how well it works 'realistically'. *stares at drawing board* *grin* Thanks!

Wolverine = definite teacher.
Survival/martial arts.

Comics-wise, Emma Frost and Banshee have both taught at Xavier's. Given that Banshee's daughter Siryn was in X2, it's certainly probable that he exists in the movie-verse.

Of course, comics-wise, Phoenix isn't Jean, just mimicking her form, so they could follow that and bring her back. On second thought, with all the multiple personality stuff they threw in to X3, I doubt they can realistically return to comic-verse canon.

Scott has a brother, Alex (aka Havok) who has trained at Xavier's but not been a regular team member. He's usually involved with Lorna Dane (aka Polaris), who has similar (weaker) powers to Magneto.

The inter-thingy tells us that many fans want Gambit to appear. It may break the wolvie/Rogue shippers, as Gambit has a long standing relationship/flirtation going with Rogue - the whole untouchable thing.

I'm rather relieved to read this, because skimming the Wiki list of all known characters, I was getting the serious impression that there were no actual teachers left at all aside from Storm and Wolverine and I was all: "They really haven't thought this through have they?"

I'm sure Nightcrawler could be drafted for religious education and philosophy.

Colossus is another movie-verse character that may be old enough to assist in teaching. Maybe he's only in the kids classes because his English isn't great. He could actually teach art, as comic-verse Colossus is a skilled artist.

Beast may still be available to teach - with the Blackbird, he can get to meetings very quickly.

Mystique would make a really interesting teacher. In theory, she's lost her powers and her belief in Magneto. If he regains his powers after 5 darts, she may be able to regain hers. She has an awesome amount of knowledge about special operations type stuff, can fight and hack. Plus she likes Wolverine.

PS - In comic-verse, Juggernaut is related to Xavier (possibly younger stepbrother).
