I started a slash fic while in Margaret River, finished it enough to send to (my? a? what do you call a beta who has only done two of your fics?) beta. She liked! She got it back to me with in a day of me first asking "um...do you have the time/enthusiasm to do this...?" and she liked! ::does another little jig of joy:: Now, of course, I need to go back through and make the little grammar and Americanism changes she pointed out and figure out what to do with the closing scene (do I leave as is? tweak? delete entirely?).

I've heard it said that posting your story is the scariest part of writing (at least in a fan fic context). I disagree entirely: that first handing over to beta is the most terrifying part, mainly because it's the first time anyone other than me has read it (and you don't exactly have objective eyes when you created the damn thing, do you?). Even in Creative Writing at Uni (oh, man, past tense. That's still very weird), workshopping was definitely sweaty-palms time. That's the scariest time for me.

Hardest bit is going back after the scary bit is over and making those little changes recommended by said beta. Best bit is having people read your story and like it :)

Other writers out there? Best bits, worst bits, terrifying-est (is so a word!) bits?
