I have now officially gone from this:

Before

to a No. 1 shave with the beloved assistance of [livejournal.com profile] black_samvara and [livejournal.com profile] mr_booboo. Trying to get the photos in chronological order on Flickr makes the baby Jesus cry, so my hair goes from buzz-cut to mullet and back again. *shrug*

I think No. 2 looks best, but going down to No. 1 is just what you do in these situations, I decided. Besides, it's going to be all of a week before it grows back to 2. I'm mighty pleased, either way.

*grins* I had no real idea what my head would look like under all that hair, but it's worked out well, to my relief! Thanks!

Thanks! I've spent the afternoon constantly running my hands over my scalp. That idea tha I'd fiddle with my hair less if it wasn't there? Ha!

The best part about shaven hair is that other people want to touch it too.

*chuckle*
I could have told you that.

eta: I suspect shaving your head has that much in common with growing a beard. You suddenly have a fuzzy patch that your brain needs to incorporate into your self image by constantly checking what it feels like.

Hee! That's exactly it. *obsessively rubs head*

*grins* Thanks! It's weirdly reassuring to know that I could turn up to a cheapo hairdressers and say "number 2, please" and know it would turn out just fine, if I needed to.

Wow - you're a braver person than I am :)

I look forward to seeing it in person.

I don't think any sane hair dresser would touch your hair. When I had hair your length, I was forced to sign a waiver and was sent home to really think about it before they chopped my hair off.

I still cried though.

Try telling that to the psycho at Chelsea Village who cut off a quarter of my hair in late September 2005. I only wanted the split ends done :-/

My sympathy.

Give us an update when you return to work. I would love to hear what your colleague thinks. And bring your camera just in case she freaks.
