Knitting (oops!) and bored

So this is my first serious attempt at knitting, taught by the very patient madradish Not half bad, except for the bit where I did this thing where I got frustrated at how tight the stitching was, pulled it apart and couldn't remember how to cast back on. *headdesk* And rather than doing something useful about it, like asking black_samvara before she went out for the night, I'm now trying to learn from online videos. Sometimes I don't make sense, even to myself.

In other, not surprising news, it's hot and I'm bored. Tell me something random, even if it's just that you're hot and bored too?

Hot, sticky, and exhausted. Tomorrow will be attempt number four to see The Golden Compass (It'd better be pretty!!), then some more birthday gatherings for my sister-in-law. Will be good to see the cousins.

Yay knitting! I don't think I can remember how to cast on either.

I thought the Golden Compass was indeed very pretty. Have you read the book? I'm curious what 'saw the movie first' people think, but I haven't been able to find any yet.

Oh. That was Sunday then... not that I'd been confused over which day Slashgropers was on, just that day that I was experiencing.
I'm on mid/evening shifts all weekend. That plus long weekend is very confusing to my sense of day and time.

I'm currently learning from knittinghelp.com. I've got the single cast on down pat, but they're right: it's bastard to try and stitch from. I seem to mangle the long-tail cast on every second stitch or so. *perseveres*

I am cold and recovering from a day of miserableness. But feel better now. I am knitting socks. They are cool. they are lacey, they are very complicated. Good luck with knitting!!

Complicated, lacey socks for the win! I suspect my first project will be lots of coloured squares made into a blanket, but we shall see. The knitting world is my oyster -- or something. *glares down at a tangled mess* :P
