Summary: (from
mini_nanowrimo) I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him. ~ Mark Twain
“Come,” Castiel murmurs. Sam stares, unseeing, and Castiel has to take one bloodstained hand to guide him.
Uriel’s close behind, too eager; Castiel glares him to a halt and takes Sam into the trees alone.
Sam stirs, the last of his humanity struggling to resurface, far too late. “Dean…” he gasps, like his brother might answer, like the blood on his hands might be someone else’s.
“Hush,” Castiel soothes, pressing two fingers to Sam’s lips, taking the breath from his body, embracing him as he falls. The fact that Uriel would have been more brutal is no comfort at all.

Yay! Thank you! This was one of those drabbles that felt like it *nearly* fit into 100 words for ages, so I'm really pleased it still comes through.

Gentleness
If no one else can be redeemed, I suppose Castiel's redemption isn't an entirely trivial accomplishment.

Oh! Thank you so much!
I think Castiel is becoming gradually more gentle/less 'the ends justify the means' mentality as time goes on. There are things he'd do because he had to, like "stop" Sam, but that doesn't mean he'd do it without question, or complaint *crosses fingers*

Twain had some awesome quotes did he not? I used to have a long list of my favorites which I would post on the sidebar of my journal but then my motherboard crashed and I wasn't able to retrieve them. That was a sad day. Take Care!
