I have the best housemate ever: [livejournal.com profile] black_samvara chiseled my door frame so now my door closes properly! <3 Although now it's kind of stuffy... *opens door*

We have hot water! And coming soon: a fully functional solar hot water system! *crosses fingers*

We've been without hot water for three weeks. My experience of this was far less traumatic than I thought, thanks to the fact that it's the middle of Perth summer, and there's a shower at work (work being a large local government council/administration building, built in the 1970s). I was chatting to [livejournal.com profile] icouldskateaway, who was surprised by the presence of showers at work. I'd never actually considered it either way, but thinking about it: I've done two local governments, and two departments within one university, and I'm looking at a 50/50 ratio for showers. It's highly likely that local government number one had a shower secreted away somewhere, but I never had the need to look. Now I'm curious.

So! Basic-account-poll, if you are so inclined (please fill out responses in comments :P):

- I do/do not have a shower at my workplace.
- My workplace type is...

We have the opposite problem with our side/main door at the moment. As in it's been so hot recently that the frame around the door (and possibly the door, but I'm not so sure of that) has shrunk and now it wont stay closed.

Poll result: My last work was a big-tall-glass building in town and had showers. In fact, four of them just on my floor. I would assume that there would be similar facilities on every floor.

We have showers. They are heaven sent. I find having access to them -so- useful.

2 of the three recent places of employment have had showers. Intriguingly, the one that I rode to 90% of the time was the one that didn't.

My current place of un-employment has a shower, and it's home. :duck::

I work for a large government organisation and we have showers right next to the employee gym :)

My last office-job had showers. Was writing computer games, in England, for a studio with about 90 employees. In a shiny new office with views of the river.

Currently work from home, so there are showers. (One of the showers is full of sports gear though, eg. a wave-ski and a boogie-board).

my building (NGO) building has a shower.

I tend to take it for granted that workplaces come with showers.

Showers at work are a very important part of encouraging people to use public transport/walk/ride. Without them you pretty much have no chance.

No Showers
4 floor building in East Perth full of tiny one and two room businesses, we occupy half the 4th floor.

Possible new poll: how many non-Australians have workplaces with showers? Because I'm betting that the number would be dramatically fewer. I will have to consider posting this.

The office building I work in has a couple of showers available for staff.

Thew new building we're looking at in Subiaco should have a few showers on each floor.

prk.

Only one shower for the whole building - State govt.

recently built building in a university. I'm aware of several showers, with most of them being emergency showers, but one of them I suspect is normal. Other place of 'work' I'm aware of one in the next building, but I think it is only in the men's loos, not one in the women's. (again, at least one emergency shower).

last place of work (research organisation) had not only showers, but a towel service

We have a shower in the Scitech workshop and a shower in the general staff toilets area. Not for profit organisation!
