*resists the urge to scream with frustration* Can someone tell me how to freeze panes in Excel 2007? I've found the View -> Freeze Panes option, but that's only giving me top row/side/top and side. What I want to be able to do is freeze the top two rows. Any ideas?

Is it not letting you drag the heavy horizontal separation line like you could in previous versions?

I... didn't know previous versions did that. Cool. (My knowledge of excel is entirely based on isolated 'there's gotta be a way to do X...' rather than any systematic training). It doesn't appear to in 2007, but I shall totally remember that for 2003 when I go to work tomorrow ;)

Yeah I can do that. Let me think though. Highlight the row that you want to freeze down from, and then select "Window, Freeze panes" and it should work.

It turned out to be a comprehension error on my part :P Also, 2007 has totally done away with the familiar menu options. Which, on one hand I imagine is more intuitive to new users etc. On the other, I learned the old way and getting used to the easy way is *hard*, dang it

Cait has it mostly right. Click where you want the X and Y to meet, and then go Window, Freeze frame, and then you should be fine to zoom around with the X and Y sections remaining in place.
