It's so hot.

It's so hot that the blood and bone smell from the abattoir across the river has quietly floated into the house. Actually, I'm not sure if that's from the heat because we get it on really cold wintery mornings sometimes too, but the heat feels like it's contributing.

Mum and dad are out at a friend's for dinner and I'm sitting here utterly hyped with planning-anticipation. As part of the Grad Dip all students must sign onto this thing called the DIS list and the tutors put up interesting tit-bits like jobs. There's a piece of paper sitting beside me with the words "Part time position vacant" for a library assistant in a resource centre on campus. OK, every librarian-in-waiting and her dog are going to be applying for this, but surely five volunteer hours a week for over a year at the local library has to count for something.

In slightly less hyped news, my next door neighbours are only going away for a week, as opposed to three weeks, which I'm rather bummed about. But it's much harder to make a fatal mistake with their dog in one week than it is in three, right?

forgive me, maharetr, but this actually has nothing to do with your post. Actually, I was wondering what the settings were for your page setup - style, colors, framing, etc. I found it through another page, and as it was set up using a free account, I realized i could probably emulate it. But, I haven't figured which settings would work that out. So, I really like it, but don't know how to *copy* it. Thanks!

Firstly, you have the honour of being the first geniune stranger to post on my LJ. Be proud! :)

I'm not sure what settings my LJ are on. I know I just picked one of the pre-formed options when I first set it up. cupidsbow? <lj user="scotsnow"?? I think you guys also have the same settings -- do you remember what they're called? I'm thinking "standard" or "classic" etc.

haha. stranger may be a bit of a stretch. friend of a friend is more accurate (laney_1974). But thanks for the input anyway!

I went and checked, cos it started eating at my brain ;). My settings are on System 1, I think it's called (the old one, at any rate), and I've set everything to "refried paper", I figure it looks better than it sounds! :)

well. I went and fiddled around with the settings on *my* page, and after much deliberating, I think I'll keep it the way I had it. But your's did still look nice, so we all come out the winner!
