On Thursday I recorded what I thought was a double ep of Stargate and a new show (well, show I haven't seen before, anyway) Jeremiah. Only got around to watching them last night. For starters, there was only one ep of Stargate? Not happy channel 7! On the flip side, if you ignore the whole Jack/Sam ship thing, you get some really good images of Jack's house. OK, no one else cares, I can deal with that, but I've had a fic on the backburner for ages (Jack gets amnesia, Daniel has to "remind" him -- yup, cliched as all hell and I don't care) but it got stalled, mainly because it was long and got in the way of far less important things like uni.
There's a scene in that fic where Jack's sitting in his house, looking blankly around because he has no memory of it, and I had screen-caps and houseplans to go on (Thank you thankyou thankyou Stargate Solutions!) but wasn't all that confident. Now that I've seen quite a bit of the house, all I want to do is write slash. But what I need to be working on is a huge Creative Writing assignment. *moan*
And the other show, Jeremiah, was reasonably good. Post-apocalypse stuff (one day everyone over puberty dies, world as we know it goes ka-put etc). The gender and the race stuff sucked, (but only from the perspective of someone who's doing gender studies at the moment) but Jeremiah's mum? In the flashback sequences? Janet!! Very briefly, but it was Janet! *happysigh*
Finally, news about me :P. I'm house sitting at the moment (they're my neighbours, I'm literally next door, but hey, it's still my own space for two weeks!) so I'm giving myself a 1/2 hour ration of the Net per day for email and LJ checking. And, my god, who would have known 30 minutes is that short!
One other thing -- advertised in the Stargate ep, at least twice, was plugs for a Stargate magazine series, you know the sort of thing you buy each week/fortnight from the newsagent? Three DVD eps a pop, plus magazine $20. I'm thinking: cynical marketing ploy. I'm thinking, it's probably way cheaper to pick it up from JB Hi-Fi (God, I hate that place) for $80-90.I'm also thinking a reasonably detailed and organised reference system at my fingertips for fics and the first one is only $10...
