From a letter titled "Blatant attack" (19 June 2006):

"Homosexuals have the right to engage in their kind of relationship, but now want to infringe on the right of heterosexuals to retain their kind of relationship, which is marriage."

"Swedish lesson"
"[People] should look at Sweden where having gay marriage for over a decade has sent heterosexual marriage rates plummeting."

That said, one of the four letters published re same-sex marriage was pro, but still...

I must not read the letters to the west australian
I must not read the letters to the west australian

I went back to the Religious Tolerance site for some comfort:
All of the special rights, privileges and advantages now enjoyed only by opposite-sex couples, will eventually be available to all couples.
Within two generations, people will wonder why spouses in same sex and different-sex marriages were treated differently. They will compare that exclusion with the [USA's] prohibition of mixed-race marriage prior to 1967 and the prohibition of African-American marriages prior to the civil war. They will scratch their heads and wonder what the fuss was all about.
From the page Homosexual (Same-Sex) Marriages: Misc. Items.

I heartily recommend their site, starting from about here.

Beloved flist, I'm wanting theories about Rogue's talent. I've dug around in Wiki and the various random things that Google coughs up, but it's not quite specific enough for my needs. I'll use the following example because it's just easier:

Rogue touches a truck driver to the point of unconsciousness. She now has a working knowledge of how to drive a truck, and would know the specific nuances of the driver's own truck. She'd also probably spend the next few days wanting to drink beer and scratch her belly, but that'd wear off.

So, she has the knowledge of say, how soon to break in order to stop in time. Would she have the truck driver's memories of learning those things? Would she always know she knew how to drive a truck, or would it be a form of body-instinct? (e.g. could she pass a theory test or would it only kick in when she sat behind the wheel?) I know she absorbs people's physical strength for a time, but months later, would she have the strength to depress a stiff clutch that would ordinarily be too stiff for her?

Have I completely confused people? [grin]
