Don't panic people, this manic obsession with recs will pass at some point. But for now, I will push anyone who cares towards this page:

As part of the 2004 Stargate SG-1 Fan Fic Awards, they who run it decided to get people to vote for their favourite SG fics: ship, slash and gen. This is the result, and we've got some beauties -- Ripples by ELG, of course; For God and Country, a novel by Doc and Dr. Jackson's Diary by Anais. I'm currently glued to Medical Considerations by OzKaren: the first fic I've read from Janet's POV that worked, and worked well. None of these are Stargate Primers, but if you've got a knowledge of the show, go see.

Dr Jackson's Diary is hilarious, although I admit I thought it began to run out of puff a little in the later months. I'll have to go and look at some of the others--I don't think I've read them.

I've read Dr Jackson's Diary from Jan thru to March and while it was good, I think "Shark Fishing in Colorado" (also by Anais) was better. I read most of it in my room late at night, hands clapped over my mouth so I didn't laugh too loud and wake up my parents in the next room type funny. It felt a lot tighter and packed a bigger punch than Dr J's Diary, probably because it didn't absolutely have to have 12 sections, which would be pretty exhausting to write! Either way, I've been solidly corrupted -- there's a tiny party of my brain that now believes Daniel/Paul is an acceptable pairing, by God!

BTW, the Affleck article was great, and I've emailed my presentation partner in an attempt to talk her round. Thank you. :)
