Who fears death by Nnedi Okorafor. A good ending, that both surprised me in several ways and also didn't perform any cop-outs that I'd been mildly worried about. All round really excellent read, if you're up for the previously mentioned content notes.
I bounced off Binti quite hard (see my brief spoilery review here), and I know she wrote Who fears death five years before Binti, but I'm still feeling warmer towards the author having read Who fears death, and much more willing to give Binti: Home a go when I get to that part of the ballot. So that's something, too.
