Today at coffee with the loverly [livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow, we got talking about fics (of course) and I realised that my first ever slash plot bunny (a so far unfinished, unposted fic) of 3,000 or so words was on the laptop when the Great Crash occured and I couldn't remember making any backup copies... I heroically managed to hold it together, run home and started going methodically through all my floppy disks, just in case... and I found it! All 3,039 lovely words of it. *saves copy to desktop computer* Oh, thank god, thank god. *calls up story and strokes screen* Me? Nuts? Of course.

Suggestion: Get a g-mail account and archive all your work there. Nothing like a off site back up.

Also any idea when your laptop gets back? *rubs fingers together thinking of the evilness that needs to be commited on a vigin system*

I handed it over on Wednesday, and techonologically-wise people were calling on Thursday saying they needed to replace the hard rive. How many business days does it take to replace a hard drive?

I have a yahoo account with 1GB of space (presumably in an attempt to compete with g-mail) -- does that count? :) And rest assured, I will be hounding you no end once the laptop is finally back in my grasp :D

Um.... I can replace a hard drive in ten seconds flat. Its not a difficult thing to do. Might take them an extra 30 or so seconds to remove the casing but you should have the laptop back on Monday or Tuesday. Any later then that ring them up and bug them.
