Sorry, couldn't resist. I really couldn't. A couple of days ago someone rec'ed 'Lovely' by Martha on the Alpha Gate. It's a Sentinel Stargate SG-1 crossover novel and it's fucking...oh god.

It's 11.30 now. Mum and dad are in bed close by. Have you ever actually tried to silence your squees? There has been much wriggling in my chair, biting my lips, covering my mouth with both hands and flapping my hands from the wrist, for some reason. I've had to do this several times in the last ten minutes, and now my wrists ache. Please don't ask me to replicate this in real life. You can have a go yourself:

"You appeared out of thin air this morning," Jim said calmly. "I wouldn't call that a 'sleep disorder.'"

Because I came there by direct link, I have no idea about ratings etc. I don't even know if this is proper slash, and I don't care. The only way I've been able to ration the fic (and get any sleep) these past few nights is to charge the laptop battery while I study and read until the battery flattens. Speaking of which, I have 25 minutes left.

ETA: I think I could come to love fandom Sentinel, oh so deeply. Said right after she's given back all [livejournal.com profile] cricketk's VHS. Actually, this is probably a good thing: exams don't seem all that important atm! A thousand thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zebra363 for the quick primer.

And yes, I've had to silence my squee when I've illicitly read short stories posted to LJ at my contract accounting job. It's hard to manage my facial expressions sometimes.
