I went and saw War of the Worlds today with Dad, we've just got home, and my mood has done this rather precise, elegant plummet. Like a diver dropping from the high board, toes all pointed. I'm thinking that me going out tonight is a good thing :) (wafts gratefulness in [livejournal.com profile] cricketk's general direction).

[livejournal.com profile] wobowikkles and I went and saw Quidam last week. It was utterly spectacular, and almost strange to see things up close when you've only seen them on TV before. I was awed by the first act, the guy with the wheel. It's almost impossible to describe in words, I need to do hand movements to get across how cool it was. Also, the four-person tower was quite something, partly because it was visibly dangerous and difficult: one of those "Arg! Can't look!/Can't look away!" moments.

We wandered the merchandise tents in the intermission, I was all impressed by the pretty masks, Wobo inserted herself into the food queue so I could buy an ice cream and I was even more impressed. We went to an amazing little Thai restaurant for dinner before hand and the food...! There must be Going Back There, soon.

What else? I've started reading Robin Hobb's new book "Shaman's Crossing" and I'm relieved and pleased: she's returned to first person, but the narrator is (so far) much less annoying than Fitz ever was, and the world and its culture are intriguing. It helps that in the first chapter there was a kick-arse, gorgeous woman who could do magic. *cough* :D

Oh, I like this — the expression, not the sentiment!
