Had a wonderful afternoon today: fabulous company and trekking around on random pieces of public transport. Discovered that the shopping centre opposite the Midland train station isn't actully Midland Gate, which resulted in me frowning over bus routes to get there and walking back at a brisk pace in an attempt to get to lunch date with the gorgeous [livejournal.com profile] mynxii, [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony and as it turned out [livejournal.com profile] llbat on time (thanks so much for hanging around for me!). Had a rather wonderful lunch with said people and then we all headed for the city, supposedly to meet at [livejournal.com profile] planetfantastic, but I was waylaid in a lovely cafe with [livejournal.com profile] mynxii my thought patterns something along the lines of: "god, standing up is hard, and look! mocha!"

Then [livejournal.com profile] cricketk turned up and any attempts at or even thoughts of leaving were rapidly discarded:

K: Can I suggest we send the email: snark, snark, snark, smack?
Higher-up person: How about smack, smack, smack, snark?
K: Yay!

*loves you lots* There are several remaining BSG eps I'm yet to see. Can we use this as an excuse to catch up [livejournal.com profile] cricketk? *g*

Fortunately, [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony was spotted wandering the streets, and K hailed him. Then [livejournal.com profile] emma_in_oz arrived and there were Swancon Things and a really good (if expensive) bread and dips. That was a really good cafe. I don't think my budget could handle regular meal-dates, but I'd love to go back with any or all of said company?

After wandering off in the wrong direction to the bus port, I ended up in [livejournal.com profile] planetfantastic anyway and hung out with [livejournal.com profile] buoy_wonder. Man enters shop:

Man [glancing around]: Do you have [I can't remember the actual title, but it sounded very Government Publication and Official and Not Fantasy].
BW and I: *blink*
BW: Uh, what genre is that?
Man: Genre? Is that a word? Or something you bookshop people make up?
BW and I: *BLINK*
BW: It's like: 'what type of book is it?'?
Me: Like detective or, y'know...fantasy?
Man: Oh, this is real.
BW: OK, if it's fantasy etc, we have it, but...
Man [seeing sign on back wall]: Oh, Supernova. Right.
Man: [leaves]
I: *boggle*

In short, I am socialised and ever so happy atm. *loves you all*

What he really was doing was distracting us so his mate could lift stuff off the stalls out the front. I figured this out about 10 mins after you left.

*shrugs*

They are welcome to the Star Treck novels. Saves me trying to sell the crap. On that note if anyone wants to buy some fantastic Star Treck novels....

Hee! I'm almost relieved by that.

Seriously, you should have let him loose on the books on the shelves behind the counter. Do you actually move any of those? :)

HOpefully, there'll be some time over the Christmas lazies to get you and Ju both properly caught up with BSG before the second half of the season starts.
