I wasn't even a speck in my mother's eye.

20 years ago:

I was born at 24 weeks (16 weeks premature), and survived.

15 years ago:

I was five/six, and I believe this was the year I cracked my head open on a cement tunnel at school. Didn't even need stitches, and din't panic all that much, despite the amazing amount of blood. Did manage to freak out most of my class, tho.

10 years ago:

I went around Australia with my parents, taking time off school to do it. My very astute teacher assigned me the 'homework' of keeping a daily diary of the things I did, plus sticking in paper momentoes etc. I've still got it, and it's the only reason I think I remember anything about the trip.

I was in year 11, and finally getting a handle on what it meant to be gay, not just "I am a lesbian" which I'd dealt with a while back, but what it was probably going to mean practically, for the rest of my life. The year 11&12 co-ordinator, giving us information about the upcoming senior's ball, said "We are a traditional school with traditional values, opposite sex couples only to the ball." I hadn't been planning to go in the first place, but that cinched it.

I was deeply happy and content doing my BA. It was by a lovely chain of events (misinformation that got me doing units I wouldn't have otherwise, which lead me to [livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow 's class etc), that lead me to slash, which made life even happier.

1 year ago:

I was firmly set on doing library studies after finishing my BA. It was the first time I realised that the so-vague-it-couldn't really be called a life-plan of "I want to write", could actually come into being and be logistically and economically feasible.

Today:

I handed in my final assignment of my BA. God of marks be willing, I will be graduating with distinction and going on to do Records Management. And life stretches out before me...

I feel like I should be adding blah, blah, blah or something just as cynical, but for the moment, life is so fucking good, so I won't.
