The gathering was successfully shifted from Friday to Saturday, so the only person who turned up was someone utterly uninvolved (my country conservative friend, MC) He called up wanting to know if I'd bought a lunar calendar for 2006. I used to use them to track my periods until The Alchemist in Freo shut down and getting one involved unexpectedly stumbling over them in random shops. I am much pleased and grateful to have one again.

We watched Dogma (which was fabulous) in between me doing the vacuuming and we ordered a pizza that barely deserved the name from Dominoes. I loves my local pizza place even more; totally worth the extra $. Also that afternoon got a call from the local library: was I able to work 9-12 on Saturday? I (briefly) cursed my haircut appointment an offered myself from 9-10 but alas. Had a good laugh with the library manager though.

Saturday was heading into the city to meet [livejournal.com profile] mynxii, [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony and an unexpected but very welcome [livejournal.com profile] wobowikkles who took some excellent before/during/after photos that shall be flocked in my next post. We had coffee and juice type concoctions and headed off to the hairdressers. I had my hair washed and a discussion with the "art director" who was cutting my hair. She said, yup, you have triangular boof which totally doesn’t suit your face. She cut it so that the fringe kind of area around my face was a little shorter and sloped into the rest of my hair and then cut the back in sort of uneven layers so that my hair sat closer to my head and didn't boof out as much.

While it was still soaking wet from the wash, she then took small sections of my hair and twisted them into ringlets, which looked great but I shudder at the idea of having to do that on a regular basis. I'm all sorts of curious about what's going to happen when I wash my hair and it curls naturally. Stay tuned. :)

From the hairdressers to Myers where we investigated oil burners and massage oils and speccy entertainment systems. Then we went to the pancake place in Carillon and my god they do good pancakes. I totally recommend the strawberry one. Running way late for the scheduled gathering time of 2pm we raced back to the house of books and dogs to greet [livejournal.com profile] mr_boo_boo and watch the pretty of Mr and Mrs Smith. I'm all interested in screencaps or icons of the early scenes where they're flashbacking to when they met, cos that was especially pretty.

There was photo-taking and later [livejournal.com profile] cricketk and [livejournal.com profile] terrycat turned up and the latter and us three Js talked intriguing things and massaged. So many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony who gave me a lift home which allowed me to introvertly recharge before Sunday.

Woke late on Sunday morning and rushed through the dishes and out to the car to go to [livejournal.com profile] cricketk's BSG screenings.

Me: *turns car key in ignition*
Car: CLICK.
Me: Fuck.

Enlist help of very wonderful and knowledgeable next door neighbour who has a nifty gadget thing which tells us that the battery's fully charged. He cleans battery head things and car starts, although I'm careful to keep the engine running when I go and pick up [livejournal.com profile] buoy_wonder. Watch BSG eps two through to most of seven of second season in a marathon sitting (plus, there was lovely massaging. I can still smell the really pretty oil, although this would have to do with the fact that I am slobbing and am yet to have a shower etc) and then go and help do food shopping for the evening's picnic/concert thing.

Drove to said picnic, having discussions about everything from asserting selves to knowing how to drive manual vs automatic cars. The music provided a pleasant backdrop while we ate good food and monitored [livejournal.com profile] cricketk's bee sting reaction. Was all impressed with the driving friendliness of said person's car, less so with the (un)willingness of my own car to start when it was time to go home. Many, many thanks to everyone who helped get the damn thing going again, especially to the kind souls who roll-started it. Also to [livejournal.com profile] ascetic_hedony for driving [livejournal.com profile] mynxii home which helped halve the general "god, what if it breaks down mid-gear change" angsts. Fortunately nothing of the sort happened and I was able to drive said people to AH's house and then [livejournal.com profile] buoy_wonder home without incident. It just won't start for dad today, which is unsurprising.

Photos in next post, hopefully. *goes off to do war with photobucket* :D

There's now the Sun Moon Star Cafe in white gum valley which has moon calendars and etc. There's also a crafty type shop in gosnells but it's new and I don't know if they have those sorts of calendars handy. I need a new one now too!
