So I carry my laptop from the kitchen table back to my desk. There's my wonderful, wonderful wireless adapter thingy sticking out the side as per usual, it's just that when I go to set the laptop back on my desk, I bump the adapter against the wall. When I turn the laptop on, there's no comforting flicker of blue light from said object, and when I reboot everything my laptop tells me: "well, there's *something* in my USB port, but I've suddenly completely forgotten what it is." I suspect I've bumped my laptop internet connection into oblivion. Needless to say I've crept into the study and I'm typing this on the desktop. Which doesn't have Trillian or my music and is Dad's domain.

I don't suppose your laptop has an ethernet port so you could at least use it while tethered to your router by a long cable?
*hugs his wireless iBook*

Though there was something about my laptop being ancient and not appropriately ported for the wireless.
