The henna dyeing went well -- the real test is seeing it out in the sunlight tomorrow. We had a power cut here for a little under an hour (6.30-7.30), which turned out to be rather pleasant. I did a minor panic because the cheesecake for the Xmas gathering was mid-bake at the time, but bless gas ovens and gas bottles, all was well. (Now all I need to do is find strawberries on a Sunday morning -- any ideas, Perth people?) Our neighbour, who came over to see if our power was out too, had an electric oven and when we found out she needed to boil peas we invited her over to use a free gas burner, so it all ended up quite social.
The power was out long enough for us to have part of our meal by candlelight (soppy romantic, yes I am!), which was great, because most times we have a power cut there's just enough time to adjust to the fact that the lights don't go on when you automatically reach for the switch, and as long as you're not doing much important, start looking forward to it getting dark enough for candles then the power comes back on.
I'll see most of you at
sarren's tomorrow. :)
