My internet connection has been driving me fucking nuts all day. For a while now (a couple of months, maybe?) it has occasionally dropped out: "Wireless connection unavailable", and it was simply a matter of waiting a moment or two for it to reconnect and then proceed as normal. It made chatting a highly frustrating experience, because Trillian took ages to recognise the connection was back, but it didn't effect browsing all that much.
Now, not only is it dropping out every 10-15 minutes or so, the resumed connection isn't quite a connection. It'll say signal excellent, and often 54 Mbps, but I try and open a page and the blue load bar at the bottom of Firebox will get about 3/4 of the way across and then nothing. Disabling the connection and reconnecting a few moments later helps... until it drops out again. When it does load pages, it does it so slowly I'm never sure if it's actually deciding to load or it's just about to drop out on me. Seriously, from the time I thought: "I want to do the drabble meme" and went to click on
taselby's url for the text to copy, to getting this update window open was 8 minutes. 8 minutes Going insane here.
Aside from that, it's been a very productive day. Finished the final draft the first of the New Norcia assignments (within three days of getting back! Whee!); did some reading for the group assignment meeting on Wednesday; did about 2/3 of the Adminstrative History for the third New Norcia assignment; went shopping for chocolate and walnut cupcakes receipe things and won $10 on a Crossword scratchie. I love those things :)
So, the point of the post:
It seems that whenever I'm working hard at uni, the urge to write kicks in with similar vengeance. I'm going to try and channel that through drabbles, because drabbles are so short they're not *quite*, writing, right? I'm editing it slightly because assignments do have to be done in there somewhere.
The first10 five people to comment on this post get to request a drabble from you. In return, they have to post this in their journal. Post all fandoms you're willing to write for...
I may offer the other five at some later point when I need a helping kick-start. Hey, you get drabbles and I get to write. Win-win, right? *stores them* :)
I reserve the right to take as long as needed, and quite probably to make them double drabbles (ie two connected drabbles of exactly 100 words each, which is my standard drabble cheat). The only thing I won't write (off the top of my head) is mpreg. I should also point out that I actually suck at canon with the exception of the X-men movies, which I've seen rencently: asking for an episode tag will require me going off and finding the ep to watch ;). I've realised I have a habit of drowning myself in fic and fandoms, but only dipping a toe into canon here and there.
Enough with the waffle!
Fandoms I will write:
Stargate SG-1 (Jack/Daniel, Sam/Janet, gen)
Spooks (Tom/Adam, or gen)
Dark Angel
X-men (movieverse, specialty Rogue)
Supernatural (including Wincest)
Harry Potter (no Squid etc! [grin]}
Firefly/Serenity
Have mercy! Give me a character/pairing focus and a theme/word to include ;)
*posts fast, before she can think, and while the net connection keeps its tenuous grip on the outside world*

For drabble meme, Jack/Daniel, 'provocation'
From:

And of course, right below that is provocative: tending or serving to provoke; inciting, stimulating, irritating or vexing...
Someone said that the dictionary was the best place to go looking for porny inspiration and I think she was right. That said, I reserve the right to do a G-rated drabble *EG*

Ah, dictionaries. Wonderful places. :-)

All that talk of G-rated-ness, and I've written something that's
genmaybe pre-slash in the right light...http://maharetr.livejournal.com/110249.html#cutid1

Oh, you didn't seriously think I'd pass this up? *g*
For the drabble meme... Jack. "Red."
Sorry about your uncooperative connection.

I slid into a creative writing type exercise of: "Talk about X without saying X" sort of thing. Oh, the joy when I got the second one down to 100! Hope it's what you're after.
